Uber is retooling its app for California drivers. Lyft isn’t

In response to a new California law went that took effect at the start of this year and has the potential to upend numerous on-demand companies, Uber has pushed out changes for drivers in the state that would once have been unthinkable: capping service fees that go to Uber, boosting fare transparency and even testing the ability to set their own fare.
