When it comes to issues concerning race or civil rights, the Trump administration doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt; it lost all credibility the moment then-candidate Donald Trump kicked off his campaign declaring that most Mexican immigrants were rapists and criminals -- and saw his standing among fellow Republicans improve. Trump only got worse on the issue as President, which is why every person his administration tries to hire, in any capacity, who has a racist history should be heavily scrutinized.
